Quarterly Journal

SPRING EDITION OF QUARTERLY JOURNAL
The spring edition of
The Austin Séance Quarterly Journal has returned from the printers.  This latest edition we have dedicated to the Fox Sisters on the 175th anniversary of their famous first séance of March 31, 1848. We have articles about the sisters themselves, about mansion hauntings, about a strange case of Ouija-inspired mass hysteria and about Austin’s Minx+Muse Studio. If you’re a home subscriber: watch your mailbox. You can also find a very limited number of copies at select occult merchants in Austin, Houston, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Waco and elsewhere.  Also, if you want to subscribe, there’s still time. This is the link.

Horan Talking Board

CHANCE TO WIN A KATY HORAN TALKING BOARD
You also can win a talking board from The Austin Séance just by picking up a copy of the journal. All you need to do is post a photo of the spring edition of the journal on Facebook or Instagram, and tag The Austin Séance on the image. If you’re not a journal subscriber and instead obtained your copy from an occult merchant,  please give the merchant a shout-out by tagging them as well.  This is another way to help out small businesses. We’ll pick one of these tagged images at random and send the poster a free talking board. Renowned Austin artist Katy Horan, creator of the popular Literary Witches book and divination cards,  is the board designer. You can find out more about Ms. Moran and the boards here.

Mysterious Noises

NEW GIFT FOR PATREON SUPPORTERS
Our Patreon subscribers also should keep an eye on their mailboxes for a special extra gift celebrating the anniversary of the first Fox Sisters séance. We have reproduced a collection of affidavits from eyewitnesses of those first-ever sessions and will send them out for free to our Patreon friends as soon as we get them back from the printers. Originally published under the title “A Report of the Mysterious Noises Heard in The Home of Mr. John D. Fox,”  the 1848 affidavits dispel a few persistent myths about the historic sessions. We also eventually will make the Mysterious Noises affidavits available for non-Patreon supporters on our merch page.

And remember: 100 percent of net proceeds from our Patreon support, from Journal advertising and subscriptions, and from merch sales we spend on writers, artists and other creatives at The Austin Séance Quarterly Journal as well as on related production costs. Want to become a Patreon supporter? Find out how here.

UPCOMING APPEARANCES BY THE AUSTIN SÉANCE
On Friday, March 31, we will be appearing at San Antonio’s beautiful Villa Finale mansion on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the first Fox Sisters’ séance. We have a séance session scheduled at the mansion itself, and a few occult experiments planned for the Meusebach House just across the street. This event is sold out.

On Saturday, May 6, we head out to Corpus Christi, where we’ll conduct workshops on psychometry and talking boards at the Produce Bar, 419 Peoples Street. The workshops are sponsored by Skeleton Key Curios. More information and  tickets here.

On Saturday, May 20, we return to San Antonio to appear as guest lecturers during the 2nd Annual San Antonio Psychic and Spirit Fest. When we’re not lecturing, find us holding forth from our mini-séance booth. The event is great fun. Find a ticket link, here.
